After a water outage, tap water may contain debris and appear cloudy,
which could damage your water heater. To prevent this, close the water heater's inlet valve as soon as the supply is restored. Open another tap and let the water run until it is clear. Once the water is clear, reopen the inlet valve to the water heater.
