TAKARA BELMONT Co., Ltd. As part of our efforts to create a sustainable society, we will renew our shampoo equipment (*) to water-saving specifications starting from September 2022 production.

■Background
In recent years, awareness of the SDGs has expanded, and both general consumers and companies have become more aware of the global environment. Changes are also evident in consumer behavior. At TAKARA BELMONT, we have been working on the coexistence of beauty and the environment in order to harmonize salon work and the global environment. Now, as a new initiative, we are focusing on water, which is important for salon work. Hair salons across the country use approximately 137 million liters (*1) of water per day. As customers' "care-mindedness" and needs for "refreshing" are increasing due to the coronavirus pandemic, demand for spa menus, etc. is increasing, and water usage is expected to continue to increase. Therefore, TAKARA BELMONT has reduced water usage without changing the usual salon work by adopting a "water-saving shower" in its shampoo equipment. We support sustainable initiatives at hair salons.
*1 Calculated based on the amount of water used: 100 L/person, the number of business days: 300 days/year, and the number of annual salon visits nationwide (from the National Barber and Beauty Manufacturers Association (NBBA) salon user survey).
■Specifications
Two types of "switchable spa shower head (*2)" and "foam shower head" have been changed to water-saving specifications.
The ``foam shower'' provides a comfortable, soft spout of water that contains air and prevents hot water from splashing, reducing the amount of water spouted by approximately 20% (*3) compared to our conventional products, while maintaining the same washing comfort and ease of use. This enables us to achieve both "customer satisfaction" and "environmental consideration."
*2 In the case of a switchable spa shower head, water is saved only when "foaming water is discharged".
*3 Water saving rate varies depending on the type of shampoo equipment and usage conditions.
■Effects of introduction
A hair salon (in Tokyo) that serves 20 customers per day saves approximately 110,000 liters of water per year by incorporating water-saving showers. This allows you to reduce CO2 emissions and salon costs at the same time.
・CO2 emissions: Approximately 741 kg reduction per year (*4)
・Utility costs: Save approximately 71,100 yen per year (water bill approximately 21,000 yen, gas bill approximately 49,000 yen, electricity bill approximately 1,100 yen) (*5)
