In June, we launched a project “Re: Re:bonis” from our own factory to create new value by utilizing the waste leather generated in the manufacturing process of professional chairs.

TAKARA BELMONT Co. Rise into beauty, Walk into life. Ltd. (Headquarters: Osaka City Chuo As part of SDGs initiatives aimed at creating a sustainable society, the company aims to create new value with the goal of eliminating waste leather* generated during manufacturing processes, etc. We have launched a project called "Re: Re:bonis" which originated from our own factory.

Our main product, ``durable and unbreakable chairs'' for professionals, is manufactured at two locations: the Osaka Factory and the Shiga Equipment Factory. At both factories, in addition to samples used in the leather material research and development stage, a large amount of leather, such as scraps generated during the cutting process, has been discarded and disposed of every year.

This project utilizes approximately 140 types of discarded leather in a variety of colors, prepared in response to the requests of many professionals including salons and clinics, to give them new roles and value, and to expand them both inside and outside the company. By doing so, we have established our own ecosystem. This is an initiative aimed at creating a recycling-oriented society that protects the "future global environment." The project name ``Re: Re:bonis'' is a coined word combining ``barber and beauty chair + reborn'', and ``In order to use every inch of leather, we have spent many years implementing efficient programming.'' The name was chosen from the project members' desire to recycle and utilize the scraps that are unavoidably generated even if they are updated and cut on a daily basis.
The first part of this project is Waji Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Abeno-ku, Osaka / Representative Director: Kanno Yuki). In addition to producing items that deepen employees' understanding of SDGs, we are planning to develop products with an eye toward B2C sales. Additionally, as a manufacturing company originating from Osaka, we plan to undertake initiatives that will contribute to local communities and education.

TAKARA BELMONT will celebrate its 100th anniversary in October this year. In addition to barbershops, beauty salons, beauty salons, and nail salons, we also operate businesses in the medical field. We sell our products in approximately 150 countries both domestically and internationally. For the next 100 years, as a company involved in manufacturing, we will strive to contribute to the sustainable development of local communities and society.
*"Waste leather"...At our company, it refers to synthetic leather.

“Re: Re:bonis” Overview

A coined word combining the words "hairdressing chair + reborn". This is a project started at our own factory that creates new value by recycling the unavoidable cut scraps that are produced during the manufacturing process of our main product, ``sturdy and unbreakable chairs'' for professionals. We aim to further establish our own ecosystem by creating products that have been reborn through this project and will continue to help our customers "make beautiful lives come true" even 100 years from now.

Voices from project participants

<“Re:bonis” project member Hironori Shirai, Technical Department>
Since joining the company, I have been solely involved in manufacturing chairs. For many years, I have been trying to program and cut leather efficiently and without any surplus, but I still end up with discarded leather. We would like to utilize these to create a new manufacturing project for our company that will lead to the next 100 years.

<Hiroki Kanno, Representative Director and President of waji Co., Ltd.>
The state-of-the-art equipment is impressive, but I felt closer to the site where digital and analog were harmonized. For this project, we used carefully selected materials, even though they are scraps. That's why I think having a color scheme and a sophisticated design will raise employee awareness, and will lead to the future. I want to create a project that can make that future a reality.
